Producing Cosmetic Masks

Cosmetic masks open the pores and cleanse the skin deeply. They can be end products or base materials for further processing. We plan and supply homogenising mixers that let you produce masks in consistently high quality. Find out more in our cosmetics section.

Cream, gel and clay masks

Masks are multi-phase preparations made of water, oil, wax and active ingredients. They should spread easily and wash off with water. Depending on the type, each variant has its own requirements:

Cream masks

They need fine, stable emulsions, much like creams.

Gel masks

Gelling agents must be incorporated without lumps, as with cosmetic gels.

Clay masks

Clay-based masks contain a lot of powder. This calls for reliable powder induction and strong agitators.

Requirements for the homogenising mixer

Production often combines substances with very different viscosities. Therefore, the plant should offer the following:

  • Robust machines with a wide performance range for stable, narrowly distributed emulsions
  • A scraper system that works in both directions
  • Efficient radial and vertical mixing at high viscosity
  • Intensive homogenisation with continuously adjustable shear energy
  • Smaller particles with a narrow particle size distribution
  • Aseptic GMP design with an integrated CIP system

This is how you achieve much higher product quality. Are you planning a plant for face masks? We are happy to advise you, including on used mixers.

FAQ: Producing cosmetic masks

Which types of cosmetic masks exist?

Cream and gel masks, peel-off masks, clay masks (e.g. with kaolin) and sheet masks soaked with a liquid serum.

How are cream and clay masks produced?

Water and oil phases are emulsified, powders such as clay or kaolin are drawn in under vacuum and finely dispersed, then actives and fragrances are gently mixed in.

What matters with high powder content?

Low-dust powder induction, strong shear for deagglomeration and a powerful scraper agitator for the high viscosity.

Which machine is suitable?

Robust vacuum homogenising mixers with a scraper system independent of rotation direction, infinitely adjustable shear energy and CIP.

Does SEEFRIED supply plants for masks?

Yes, we plan plants and offer inspected used homogenising mixers for masks, creams and pastes.
