Colour pigments should develop their full effect in lipstick, make-up or eyeshadow. To achieve this, homogenising plants must carry out several steps efficiently and seamlessly. We design and supply plants that allow you to incorporate pigments into your cosmetic products with high colour strength and uniformity.
Process steps in one plant
Pigments are used in masses of very different natures. Modern process plants therefore carry out all the important steps at the right temperature:
- 1MeltingFirst, the plant gently melts fats and waxes.
- 2Drawing inIt then draws in powders below the liquid level with little dust.
- 3DispersingNext, the tool breaks up agglomerates (pigment grinding), see Dispersing.
- 4HomogenisingFinally, the homogeniser makes the mass uniform and stable, see Homogenising.
What matters in the plant
- Heatable lines in the agitators prevent solid components from settling
- Processes for low-dust drawing-in of powders ensure clean operations
- Pressure- and vacuum-resistant machines allow manufacturing under a protective atmosphere
- In addition, we design agitators and homogenisers precisely for your product in advance
- Permanently lid-mounted CIP cleaning shortens production times and meets GMP
Would you like to incorporate colour pigments more efficiently and with greater colour strength? We will be happy to review your process and propose a suitable new or used plant.
FAQ: Incorporating colour pigments into cosmetics
Why do colour pigments have to be dispersed?
Pigments are present as agglomerates. Only dispersing breaks them up and distributes them evenly. This determines the colour strength, opacity, shade and stability of lipstick, make-up or eyeshadow.
Which processes are used?
Melting the fat and wax base, low-dust drawing-in of the pigments under vacuum, dispersing with a rotor-stator homogeniser and, if necessary, fine grinding (pigment grinding) on roller or bead mills.
How can pigments be prevented from settling?
Through heated lines and agitators, constant mixing and a fine particle size.
Which machine is suitable?
Heatable, pressure- and vacuum-resistant homogenising mixers with a scraper agitator and powder induction, also under a protective atmosphere.
Does SEEFRIED support pigment processing?
Yes, with process consulting, plant planning and suitable used homogenising mixers.
