Lip gloss is essentially a liquefied lipstick mass. The mass is additionally enriched with care substances, flavourings and moisturising substances. We design and supply homogenising mixers that process these sensitive raw materials gently. More on this under Cosmetics.
Lip gloss and lipstick compared
Liquid gloss
It consists mainly of oils and polymers such as polybutene and contains only a little wax, which makes it more fluid. Added to this are colour pigments, flavourings and preservatives.
Solid stick
A higher wax content makes the mass solid and dimensionally stable. More on this under lipstick masses.
Requirements for the homogenising mixer
Modern plants melt fats, draw in the liquid oils and homogenise them at the right temperature. Powerful agitators carry out several steps in parallel.
- Heatable lines in the agitators to prevent deposits
- Infinitely variable speed adjustment for gentle incorporation
- Pressure- and vacuum-resistant design for working under a protective atmosphere
- Design based on particle size, surface and nature of the pigments
- Gentle treatment of the active ingredients so that the colour develops fully on the lips
Are you planning such a plant? Together we will clarify the formulation, batch size and cleaning. We will then propose a suitable solution. We will be happy to advise you, including on used homogenising mixers.
FAQ: Manufacturing lip gloss
What distinguishes lip gloss from lipstick?
Lip gloss is liquid to gel-like and consists predominantly of oils and film-forming polymers with little wax. Lipstick is a solid wax-oil mass with a higher pigment content.
How is lip gloss manufactured?
Oils and waxes are melted at a controlled temperature, pigments, mica and care substances are drawn in and dispersed, flavourings are added gently, and the mass is deaerated and filled.
Why are heated lines important?
They prevent components from building up in pipework and reduce product losses and cleaning effort.
Which machine is suitable for lip gloss?
Heatable, pressure- and vacuum-resistant homogenising mixers with infinitely variable speed, powder induction and an optional inert gas atmosphere.
Does SEEFRIED offer plants for lip gloss?
Yes, we design plants for decorative cosmetics and offer suitable used homogenising mixers.
